Sea Prayer

Khaled Hosseini is back again with his new book “Sea Prayer”. Now, if you are a reader, his name is not new for you. For those of you who read less, Khaled Hosseini is a master at storytelling (and poetry as it turns out!). Khaled Hosseini has delivered 3 masterpieces before this one:                   1. The Kite Runner (His most acclaimed work)           2. A Thousand Splendid Suns            3. And the Mountains Echoed All the three of which are a masterpiece, and must reads. I was expecting another amazing novel, a long lazy read to dive into and forget everything else. What I got was a beautifully written, and accompanied by awesome illustrations (paintings), a book with 50 pages of beauty. Yes, Its a poem.  A very beautiful, strong and heartbreaking piece of writing. The poem is about a father, who along with his wife and son is ready to live his motherland for a refugee camp somewhere far away. He tells his son about the b

Is IMDb Fair?

How do you decide whether to watch a particular movie or not? Do you judge the movie by its IMDb rating? I am sure most of you do this. I too used to do this for all the movies before I watched them, until I realized that I was very wrong. Let me tell you why I think so. Now, the IMDb rating that you see for every movie, is the average of what thousands, lakhs or even millions of people have rated it. Critics do not play any role in the IMDb ratings that you use as a meter to judge movies. As you can see above, I have taken an example of the movie Mockingjay Part 2.  38869 users' reviews are averaged to make a 7.1/10 rating. You too, can vote your opinion there! Choice differs from person to person. Some person would love a 9 rated movie, while someone would detest it!  It all depends on your taste of movies. For example, MARVEL has a huge fan following worldwide. As for me, I am not a great fan of MAVEL. So the crazy 8.7 rating of the “Infinity War” baffles m

So, now you know the dark web and its bad side. The new question is, why create such a thing at all? I will try to tell you the reason behind why such a thing was needed and who created it. Okay, so as you all know, every activity you do on the internet is traceable, and in most of the cases will be traced.  Now, in mid 1990s, as the internet was rapidly growing day by day, many people were concerned about their privacy. Many groups of people, agencies, and governments were worried about the traceability of the internet. The United States Federal government too shared the concern, and decided to act on it. So, the computer experts working for US navy started working on a new technology called Onion routing.  Onion routing was designed in such a way that the communication would be anonymous and the origin and end cannot be detected. Tor was successfully created and gave complete anonymity to the user, thus doing its job perfectly.  Now, wh

When you try the dark side..

You might have come across many articles and videos about “The Dark Web” while surfing. Most of them discuss the disturbing and illegal aspects the dark web. But what is the experience of a person like me and you, with no deep knowledge about the Deep web, when we try to get a little taste of this dark and obscure side of the internet? So today, I will tell you what my experience was when I tried the dark web.  Those not familiar with the concept of the dark web, I will tell you all about it in my next blog. For now, just remember that accessing the dark web makes you completely anonymous, which means nobody can track you down, not even the police or the government. Now getting back to my experience: When I first accessed the dark web, I was very excited. I wanted to experience the spooky stuff that was shown in videos about the dark web. I firstly (as any beginner would opt to do) got the link for the hidden wiki. It was easy, all I had to do was type what I wanted o

WHY DO WE LOVE THE ARROGANT SHADY?

WHY DO WE LOVE THE ARROGANT SHADY? “ I don't know you and no I don't owe you a mothe*****in' thing I'm not Mr.'N Sync and I'm not what your friends think I'm not Mr.Friendly, I can be a prick, if you tempt me my tank is on empty No patience is in me and if you offend me I'm lifting you ten feet In the air, I don't care who was there and who saw me just jaw you Go call you a lawyer File you a lawsuit, I'll smile in the courtroom and buy you a wardrobe ” Yes, he’s arrogant. Despite this fact, the love for him in fans’ hearts has only risen. Maybe this is because he’s not bothered by what the critics, media, or even fans talk about him. The beauty of his work is how honest his lyrical content is. In his words: “I'm like a head trip to listen to 'Cause I'm only giving you, things you joke about with your friends Inside your living room The only difference is I got the balls to say it in fron

Isn't this enough?

The Aquaman and SHAZAM trailers recently released at the SAN DIEGO Comic-con gave the DC fans a hope of revival, especially after the badly turned out Justice League. It can be clearly seen that DC is trying to get it together finally.   But is it too late? MARVEL (MCU), currently having the absolute monopoly over the superhero genre of cinema, has churned out 18 superhero movies since their cinema debut in 2008. Before that, in the 2000’s, X-MEN ruled in this genre. This franchise too, has 11 movies till date. That’s a lot of superheroes! And now, amidst this saturation of movies, DC plans to reintroduce or rather reboot their superhero movies under the name DC (unofficially DCEU). Questioning the ability of DC to lay a strong foundation for their characters is not the point here (though that needs serious questioning). My point is, isn’t it enough? Are the audience not weary of superheroes? Apart from the visual treat and witty dialogues, superhero movies have nothing
